Ekana Teriinoho passed away on February 22, 2021.
Ekana was the patriarch of the group Tamarii Uturoa and served for many years as its leader. He has left behind a great legacy in Tahitian dance and music. In Japan, ever since he graciously committed himself to performing as the head judge of the first annual Tahiti Heiva in Japan, his efforts did not stop at the competition. Through holding workshops and shows, he made a tremendous contribution toward the mutual understanding and to cultural exchange between Tahiti and Japan.
We wish to offer our sincere condolences, and we pray from our hearts that Ekana Teriinoho may rest in peace.
